Credit

There are times when you need to give a client a credit for a product or service on a paid invoice. Some examples:

  • A product had to be cancelled and reselected

  • The client has returned a product

  • A service is no longer needed

  • The client overpaid on a retainer or on another invoice

Use this method to give a client a credit for an item on a paid invoice.

Best practice for crediting a return/cancellation:

  1. Create a new invoice

  2. Add the product as a line item from the product catalog

  3. Add a - in front of the rate on the line item.

  4. Mark the invoice as paid with client credit. This will automatically add the credit amount to the Client Profile. **Do not export this to QBO**
